B&D Matrix Drill Driver replacement
I have a number of these drills, I love the attachment systems and have a bad habit of abusing them and burning up the brushes in the motors. I finally got tired of buying replacements at $80+ apiece and decided to see if I could fix one of them. So I ordered one of these motors. I read the "RS-550VC-7527" off of the shield on the old one, Google'd it, waited anxiously for it to come in, pried the gear off of the old motor, pressed it gently into place on the new one, and Voila! my count of working drills was increased by 1! My plan now is to order 5 more of these and fix the rest of them ... One or two of them also need the trigger switch ... that's a little tougher because it has a complicated heatsink/capacitor board; one guy posted that a bigger Dewalt heatsink makes these drills almost bullletproof except for the motor, but then he never came back and posted if his solution worked ...
