Product Overview
- Purchase this manifold base (am-3982), listed on this very page.
- Fill the 4 slots. You must pick a total of exactily 4 items from these 3 choices (or use older CKD valves you may already have)*
- CKD Single Solenoid Valve (am-3983)
- CKD Double Solenoid Valve (am-4002)
- Blank cover (am-4003) for every unwanted slot
- Choose your valve fittings:
- If your manifold has 4 valves, buy the Fitting Pack for 4-Valve Manifold (am-3982_f4)
- If your manifold has 3 valves, buy the Fitting Pack for 3-Valve Manifold (am-3982_f3)
- If your manifold has 1 or 2 valves, buy qty 2 or 4 of the usual CKD fitting (am-2384)
- You cannot just use the usual CKD fitting (am-2384) on all the valves since the valves are packed so tightly together on the manifold. Every other valve needs fitting extensions (am-4004). These are included in the above Fitting Packs.
- Manifold fittings:
- Air needs to be supplied to the manifold. Two universal 1/8" pipe thread to 1/4" tube fittings are included. These screw into the middle ports on either end of the manifold. You may want to plug one of them if you are only using one manifold on your robot. You can do this with the included plug. Alternatively you can add the second universal fitting to the other side of the center port to extend pressure to a second manifold or high pressure storage.
- Assemble your manifold:
- Mount each valve in it's position, with its rubber gasket between the valve and manifold.
- Install the fittings so that the extensions are placed on every other valve. This gives proper spacing for mounting fittings.

Here's some details you may need
This is a nice manifold but, with just a single photo, precious little information about it in the description and no additional drawings or instructions available, you might have a lot of questions. Hopefully I can answer some of them here (wish I could include photos). Here's what you need to know: The mainfold is a single piece of aluminum which measures 53mm (2.1") wide x 71mm (2.8") long x 21mm (0.85") high (without solenoids) or fittings installed. The weight is approximately 158 grams (5.57 oz.). The bottom of the unit is machined to fit onto a DIN rail. There are three threaded (1/8" NPT) holes in each of the short sides. They are labeled 5R, 1P and 3R on the top. In addition to the numerous holes drilled into the manifold to accommodate the solenoids, there are four additional holes (approx. 3/16"), 2 at each end. 2 of these 4 holes are tapped to M5, presumably for mounting or locking the unit onto a DIN rail with an M5 setscrew. The package includes 3 small (1/8" NPT) plugs and no instructions. If you are trying to determine if you will have space for this on your robot, consider that the dual solenoids increase the total height to approximately 65mm (2.56") with fittings and the pneumatic tubing for your cylinders will have to come in the top as well. Also, the width will increase to a minimum of 102mm (4") with minimal space for the wires. In the long dimension, you will have to add a fitting for the air inlet (1P) and of course associated tubing. While there are no instructions, if you are familiar with pneumatics it is pretty easy to figure out where everything goes, and it's nearly imposible to install the solenoids incorrectly, as long as you don't forget the gaskets. I hope this has been helpful.

An interesting little unit. It would be nice to have more specific directions......

Handy Manifold
Nice Manifold. Solenoids stack up nicely. Check out the manifold ports though. Found them tapped for metric instead of 1/8" NPT. (AndyMark response: Thank you for this review. We caught the fitting issue recently, and sent out the correct fittings to customers who received the manifold.)

1/8" NPT fitting
For the life of me I can't get all of the other 1/8" NPT fittings to go into these ports. Are you sure they are 1/8"? (AndyMark response: Thank you for this review. We caught the fitting issue recently, and sent out the correct fittings to customers who received the manifold. All new manifolds will be checked to make sure they have 1/8" NPT ports.)
